   • Rehost ("lift and shift"): the VM moves to Azure as-is — fast, inexpensive
   • Replatform: the application moves to managed services (Azure App Service, Azure SQL) — less administration, more reliability
   • Modernization: the opportunity to containerize or split what needs it
3. Data migration with a recovery plan and reversible cutover.
4. Operations: monitoring, alerts, a regularly tested backup policy, and continuous cost optimization.
